Meet Greg

Experience & Vision

I am a lifelong resident of Clark County and active in business, volunteering, and family life.  I am a graduate of Northwestern Local Schools and The Ohio State University.  Following college, I returned to the family farm where we raise corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, cattle and swine.  Farming has instilled a strong work ethic in me and a conservative fiscal outlook.  I bring those qualities of life to everything I do.  I have served as Pike Township Trustee going on 17 years, Clark County Board of Directors (Fair Board) for 16 years, and a 4-H volunteer for 35 years as a Club Advisor as well as various committees.  As Owner and President of Kaffenbarger Farms, Inc. I handle many responsibilities such as record keeping, managing employees and daily decisions based on current markets.  I have always believed in leaving things better than when I found them, whether speaking of farmland, my local area or entire county community.

Why Am I Running For Commissioner?

I will work hard for all of the residents as a County Commissioner. I have never been a person to sit on the sidelines and complain.  I prefer to take action and help bring solutions to issues affecting the people of Clark County.  I hold this area in high regard and want to leave it in a better position than when I began my service to the public.

The Importance of Family

My strong county roots grow from my family.  My father and mother, Bob and Marge Kaffenbarger, invested their lives in the farm business, community and their family.  As well as my grandparents, Lloyd and Esther Kaffenbarger.  My grandad, Dr. Wesley Knaup, a WWII Navy Veteran and a well-regarded Springfield ear, nose and throat surgeon, and grandmother, Amy, were active in many local city organizations and clubs.  My wife of 31 years, Brenda (Farrell), is also a lifelong Clark County resident and highly involved in county clubs, our local school district and volunteering.  We have two adult children, gained a daughter-in-law, and have been blessed with 1 grandchild.  Just like the generation before me, I want to help ensure that our children and the following generations can look forward to a bright future in Clark County, Ohio.

Experience to Trust

Business Experience

I am Owner and President of Kaffenbarger Farms, Inc. since 2007. I manage the farm business finances, employees and daily tasks.  As an owner and operator of KFI Show Pigs for over 12 years, I have learned to balance the demands of a small business alongside my larger business.  Also, I am a longtime member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

Governing Experience

I have enjoyed being active in the county my entire life.  My experience as a page for State Senator Dave Hobson in 1990 kicked off my interest in the political arena so many years ago. I am currently in my 17th year as a Pike Township Trustee and 16th year as a member of the Clark County Agricultural Society (currently Vice President). I have served on the Clark County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Lifelong Resident

Clark County has a rich history of residents; many great people have come from this area who have made a great impact locally, across the state of Ohio and country wide.  With these positive role models ahead of me and as a lifelong resident of Clark County, I have tried to work for the county in all my endeavors to help make this community a better place for everyone with my actions.

National

I have served on local, county, state and national level boards for various interests.  I am a Board Member of the Clark County Historical Society and serve as a Member of the Tecumseh Land Trust Advisory Board.  In my agricultural area I have been a member of the Ohio Pork Producers Council State Board, served as a member of the County Committee at the Farm Service Ageny, National Board Member for Certified Pedigree Swine and current President of the National Tamworth Swine Association Board of Directors.
